Want to add 50+ feet to your backhand drive, throw consistent hyzer flips, and stop missing 20-foot circle 1 putts? Disc golf field work is the proven path to lower scores, but practicing without objective feedback often reinforces flawed mechanics like rounding, nose-up release, and early hip collapse.

Player 1 turns your smartphone into an AI disc golf field work coach. Set your phone on your disc bag, throw your reps, and get frame-by-frame biomechanical breakdowns of your X-step, power pocket, and brace leg in seconds.

The 5 biomechanical pillars of a 400-foot backhand drive

  1. X-Step rhythm & lateral approach: Controlled lateral momentum is essential. Player 1 checks that your cross-step lands on the ball of the foot with hips turned slightly away from the target, rather than turning completely backward too early.
  2. Full reachback timing (Preventing rounding): The reachback must peak at the exact microsecond your front plant foot touches the ground. If you reach back too early, your shoulders unwind before the lower body engages. The disc must stay on a straight pull line, not wrapped behind your torso.
  3. The Power Pocket & elbow lead: The elbow must lead into a 90-degree chest angle. This compresses the kinetic spring before the forearm whips open like a catapult.
  4. Front heel brace & weight transfer: Momentum from your run-up must be stopped dead by a firm front heel plant. If your front knee slides forward or collapses, energy bleeds into the ground instead of into the disc.
  5. Nose-down wrist angle (“Pouring the coffee”): Throwing nose-up is the #1 distance killer in amateur disc golf. The wrist must maintain downward ulnar deviation through the hit so the disc penetrates the air instead of stalling out.

Putting & approach shot analysis

Player 1 also analyzes push putting and spin putting mechanics: weight transfer from rear to lead foot, target chain link focus, arm lift path, and finger spring release consistency.
